We haven't seen very many problems with Windows IE3/IE4.x (NT or Win9x)
just with the Mac version. When users do have a problem we tell them to
relax the cache settings as you mention - but it has no effect on the Mac.

I really want to avoid requiring users to make any changes to their
browser settings in order to use our site, especially those with slow
connections that really need an aggressive cache. I would like to
solve this on the server side if at all possible...
