Hello,
I have been working on developing a website for an idea I have. While
researching deployment options I came across some information which
confirmed servlets for me. I had previously been looking at deploying using
a Python web app server called Zope. Zope is very nice but Python does not
scale with multi-processor machines.
I am going to use an open source web app server called Enhydra,
http://www.enhydra.org .
Enhydra is completely Java and Servlet based. Their site is implemented in
their own technology. :)
One of their employees spoke at JavaOne in June about the use of their
technologies in developing Kinko's website. While looking at the list of
JavaOne sessions I came across one about 24/7 Media and their use of Java
Servlets. They use Java and Servlets for their website to serve over half a
billion ad impressions a month.
A link to the JavaOne info:
http://industry.java.sun.com/javaone/99/abstracts_by_track/0,1666,9,00.html
I also believe http://www.idg.com uses servlets based on getting a
java.null.pointer.exception from JServ Pro while visiting their site.
Hope this helps.
