Actually it's pretty easy to tell if you're sending html or text format;
look at the reply section of the email of the window that comes up
after you hit reply; and see if it looks like plain text or if there
is a continuous vertical line preceding the whole message.

     Actually it does work for me to change the tools>options>send - respond
to message in the format they were sent option; but sometimes seems to get
reset;
 I've never been able to track down a reason. I suspect it can be reset by
html emails.

   I've always had mine set for plain text replies yet when I replied to the
list, it
reset it as html; and I know the virus didn't run on my system as per the
Symantec
info web page as there were none of the other signs that it had run in the
registry
or in file searches, or Inoculate indications. I wonder if the virus didn't
reset the
option internally to Outlook/OE without actually running on the system? It's
possible.

Hmm. Another thing to pass on to MS, if we can get enough evidence. It might
be they didn't close that security hole as thoroughly as they thought they
did.

------------------

It is annoying to learn that MS Outlook Express under "tools"/"options" I
clearly set "plain text" for email and news, yet despite that, when I
replied to emails and then checked "Format" I find that it is responding in
"HTML" in some cases! How on Earth can one win with this kind of confusion?
Thanks Ablemonk for advising to check "Format" ... I guess I need to check
"Format" with every email?
