Hello. I'm a core developer for net-snmp. I do most of my development on Solaris.
I've noticed that the SMA code shipped with Solaris 10 is rather stale and that the majority of files in SFW haven't been touched since 2003 which makes it 5.0.9 vintage which is pretty much deprecated. We're currently shipping 5.4. I'd like to work with this community to facilitate getting a newer version on the street. Here are some of the issues: 1. Practically the entire codebase has changed. To update, do I need approval for every individual change or can we arrange some sort of bulk upgrade? 2. Some users are going to want to jump ahead to the latest version. Can we work out a methodology for doing so (with appropriate disclaimers)? 3. Other packages rely upon SMA. What are those relationships? 4. The current configuration string fails to include some of the newer features, especially LM-SENSORS. What is the methodology for getting new modules approved?
