I noticed that both /usr/sfw/share/info/dir and /usr/share/info/dir
are 'f' in the prototype. I think they should be 'e' or 'v' and
we need a mechanism for updating it.
Stephen, you mentioned before that you have a plan for updating
the dir file automatically. Is there any update on that?

PS: in the SFE spec files I use a postrun script that calls
install-info to update the dir file and it seems to work
nicely. Here's an example:
