All you need is the PVC tool, shaft puller and heat gun. Remove grip, slip PVC tool over shaft down to crown of head, put in your shaft puller, apply heat and pull off head.  Ping hosel insert will remain in place on the shaft. Don't waste your time trying to remove and save the insert. Install a new one with the new shaft. You MUST clean out the hosel hole in the head very well. I use a Dremel Tool with a small gringing stone to remove ALL old epoxy.

One thing I would add is that on the new Ping style ferrule be sure to rough it up some, I grind on it a little and then cut some bias grooves with a hacksaw to get more hold, no problems this way, when I've just stuck um I have had a few failures.
