Jeremy,
Arnie is right some drill chucks weigh 258 grams
and you can open the bit end and set it to the insertion depth of the hosel
and tighten it down onto the tip of the shaft to check the overall frequency at
full length or finished length within a set.

sorry to be dumb but what exactly is a 258 drill
chuck?

Lloyd,
For finished clubs
I use a Mitchell Frequency machine with 5” clamp. I shim
the head to the shaft and measure to length and mark. I
then let the butt stick out of the clamp on the other end to the previous
marked line for length. In checking shafts in a set
before cutting to see which has less flex I use a 258 drill chuck at full
length. Then I use a Colin Dick spinefinder to
check the spine and mark alignment.

5" clamp length and appropriate
head weight and shaft length. The shafts are made for me to may
specifications. In my fittings I find 60% of those I test outside the
standard range of OEM shafts, 30% below and 30% above the
range.

For
what it's worth, how do you measure your frequencies (clamping length, tip
weight, etc.)?

How
about Junior shafts? Ahhh the joys of building for
ladies.
Hot pink grips on "pink mist" shafts "pink sunset"
paint fill to match my bag - I know someone makes 'em! Oh, and by
the way "I need "oversize" grips, double ribs please with marks to
show where to put my fingers, though this one is short and this one
is a little crooked and I like to keep my nails long". "Do you
reduce the price because my clubs are shorter than the others I
see?" Sure, whatever you want!
