Sorry, Lloyd, your argument doesn't fly. The hands keep the butt of the
club from being completely free, but in no way is the butt of the shaft as
constrained as it would be clamped in a vise (or an FA). The 'stops' are
nowhere near 'hard'. As I said previously, the response of the club is
complex and the constraints provided by the hands of the golfer highly
variable, but modeling the shaft response as similar to that of a shaft
clamped on the end is without merit.

Then he got into measuring frequencies and reaction of the club in the

I take it then, you have never experienced anyone hitting the ball further
just because they change shaft stiffness. I have experienced it many times
with my customers.
