300Hz shaft frequency is way too high for ANY kind of golf shaft. S? X? XXX? Driver? 9-iron? You name it, 300Hz is still way above anything reasonable.

Hi guys,

I recently came across this article - <http://www.informaworld.com/smpp/content~content=a902510569~db=all~order=page>http://www.informaworld.com/smpp/content~content=a902510569~db=all~order=page – and I thought I’d offer it up for discussion as I know one or two of you feel quite passionately about the topic! As I am unable to attach a PDF copy of the full paper here (list server doesn’t allow it), please email me back if you are interested and I will forward you a copy by return.

I’d be interested in hearing you comments. On the face of it, the results seem to offer support for limiting golf shafts to 48” (note the last author is the Director of Research and Testing for the R&A). However, there may be some methodological issues with the different driver setups (e.g., bend profiles and swingweight not controlled for, etc.) and also isn’t a >300 Hz shaft frequency a little excessive for an S flex?
