My wishes for the AUX button:

* When the phone is ringing: AUX picks up the phone.
   - "Always works", no need to look at the screen to answer!
And the button should blink, so that people not familiar
with the phone gets a hint. (sSch as when asking the girlfriend
     to answer the ringing phone.)
   - No need for an answer button on the touchscreen, so
one accident less to happen as the user pull the phone out
     of a pocket/handbag.

* When a call is in progress: AUX hangs up.
   - Again, no need to look at the screen to hang up.
   - No need for a "hang up" touch button that accidentally touches
the user's ear! The AUX button is stiff and won't get pressed
     accidentally.

* When no phone acitivity is happening:
AUX is user configurable through SHR settings, with actions for
"short" and "long" presses. These actions could be just
   about anything, such as:
   - lock/unlock screen
   - rotate
   - launch user specified app (for example, the dialer)
   - other stuff one might think of
   - bring up a menu with all these actions on the touchscreen

These ideas are phone-centric, but it is a phone. :-) Chances are that
you aren't going to do all sorts of other actions when the phone is
ringing anyway.
