Hm, I am mostly surprised that various people encounter so many different problems, which others don't see. My most "favorites": * https://docs.openmoko.org/trac/ticket/2327 (kernel bug, not tracked in SHR trac) This is one that I haven't seen any complaints from other users for quite some time now but It now it happens all the time: - With .29 it was intermittent, that is, for one or two days I could get Wifi up but then for a couple of days it wouldn't. Also situation improved by increasing the timeout mentioned in that ticket - Then came 2.6.32.21 and it worked for the first one or two day(s) or so and then failed all the time - Now with the most recent 2.6.32.22 it seems to have started to work again. Actually, until I started iliwi (I tried fsoraw + wpa_supplicant + udhchc from the command line before). Then it stopped working again, even after a reboot (and even after shutdown, take out battery for 2 seconds, reinsert battery, boot up) I know this is very weird but that's what I'm seeing. * Problems with SD card access. Not sure if this is the same like http://www.shr-project.org/trac/ticket/1143 since I never had FS corruption (might be b/c I'm not running ReiserFS but ext3 and the journal got me back to a sane FS after reboot). I am running SHR-U on uSD since I have a backup (working?) SHR-U on the flash. I got it more stable by having this in /boot/append-GTA02: glamo_mci.sd_max_clk=10500000 glamo_mci.sd_post_power_clock=500000 glamo_mci.sd_slow_ratio=16 glamo_core.slow_memory=1 and not using swap. However, at times the UI becomes extremely slow and I've got the feeling I need to take out the battery again. At one time X must have crashed and I saw messages passing by saying something that hinted (to me at least) that communication with the SD card completely got screwed up. * Just minor things with the UI: I got fed up a bit with illume/illume2 since I wanted to have a launcher that uses the /usr/share/applications desktop files but gives me categorized application directories on the UI (I'm now running matchbox, matchbox-desktop, matchbox-panel-2 with a custom theme, which is somewhat useful. Still, not too happy about the UI, so I guess I have to invest some more time into tuning this). Also, I found the shelf with the close box, left and right buttons a bit annoying and wanted to have access to close and switching windows a bit more direct. I've got that now but paid the price with some instabilities (some apps don't start a second time, don't have GSM/battery indicator anymore but that I can see on the great SHR Today screen ;-)) All in all I want this email not understood as a complaint but rather my view on things. I would really like to give a big thank you to the kernel developers and the SHR team to having made a huge progress since I got my Freerunner. And yes, I *am* using it as my primary phone and even though I am playing with the thought about either buying a n900 or an Android based phone somehow I don't want to miss my Freerunner.
