Those notes are very useful, thanks. > and hopefully by the time I actually manage to do any > releases that will be a complete guide to replacing me should I fall > off the interwebs for some reason. > > And of course I won't complain if someone beats me to it! What I had in mind, before I saw your interest and your notes, was to offer to do some basic mechanics of maintaining a SHR-Stable distribution. I recently followed the excellent instructions at http://www.shr-project.org/trac/wiki/Building%20SHR to try to build a SHR-Testing image myself. It didn't actually succeed completely, but it looked like it was close and that the problems would be soluble, so I can imagine doing that on a regular basis. In more detail, what I had in mind was: - Starting from spaetz's last SHR-Testing (i.e. before JaMa's recent update) - simply because that's what I've been using as my phone for a few months, and so I know that it mostly works for me. - Asking people to provide pointers to known, safe fixes for specific problems. (E.g. not be able to type an SMS immediately.) I would not propose to do significant new investigation myself. - Doing the mechanics of applying fixes to my tree, building and releasing a new image. - Possibly, also providing the same updates through a package feed - but I say "possibly" because I have no idea yet how this part would work. I'd be interested to hear any comments on whether people think that approach would work, and whether it would be useful.
