Hi All, re: neat & effective project management
We used Saasu to manage our business (fintech consulting and angel investing) and I liked it so much I invested in the company. http://www.saasu.com is 100% web based and often gets mistaken for being just accounting (that is of course the main focus though). It does CRM (basic but enhanced with links to linkedin etc) and accounting and payroll in one spot. Plus all the usual like GL, AR, AP, Inventory, blah. A recent feature is tasks/activities which can be tagged (just like transactions) endlessly. An interesting side effect is you can track tasks that span projects or sub-projects using tags and also generate a project profit and loss even if some transactions impact multiple projects. We were also using basecamp for customer projects since we typically have dispersed teams but am seriously thinking about ditching that and just focusing on Saasu. Have a look, it is free (transaction capped but not task capped) and if you are working on a few you can run a bunch of companies in one subscription or across multiple subscriptions. Good for when you own part/all of separate businesses. Unlimited users of course. And the extensions like ecommerce and point of sale are really happening these days. Apologies for not delurking earlier, just been busy, I'll do a big post on me sometime too as an intro to the group but in the interim see - - http://www.coopersydney.com (company) and - http://www.peterjcooper.com (linked in profile) and - http://www.alturnal.com (blog) Cheers, Peter. PS: As one of dozens of projects we are also building a list of tools that are useful for startups (to get working in hours not months) at http://www.startsydney.com which will probably grow into separate site over time, web-based and crowd sourcing suggestions welcome.
