Agreed, only do it for a % discount on the work, or if it's a joint venture...

Unless part of the deal is that the developer is providing a significant 
discount (ie, taking on risk) or giving you a cut throat rate to produce this 
product, I find that sort of thing very unwarranted.

If you hire a consulting firm, and you pay them for work, then you would expect 
to own all IP that results from that work once the payment is made.  That 
includes final say on the design, any logos etc.

None of the client work we produce (or any of the good dev firms I know) 
includes the development house logo on the client site.
