At my company we ask clients to keep a "powered by RedShop" at the bottom of
the splash page. But in this case they're using a technology platform that
we have built. A bit like, "a wordpress site". Only half of our clients
accept this by the way, and I don't push the issue. Nice to have. So long as
they pay us :)

But to echo the other comments here, a development firm should not be asking
for this. Ask them to show you a precedent for their request and to explain
why this is a reasonable request. Developer ego out of control if you ask
me. You could offer them attribution in a "credits" area of the
contact/about page.
