I don't know what other measures you're looking into, but I'd highly 
recommend some of the job boards throughout Australia including 
Whirlpool<http://whirlpool.net.au/jobs/> and 
Silicon Beach Jobs <http://siliconbeachaustralia.org/jobs/>.

Furthermore, you can find great links to upcoming events through Meetup, The 
Fetch <http://thefetch.com/>, and Startup Digest <http://startupdigest.com/>
. 

All of which have helped me overcome my ongoing visa obstacles.
