You are at a perfect place with 1.4 ma.
Your CS will be of high quality which you will spoil by raising the
current.
Yes, it takes a long time. That's what it takes with LVDC systems.

There are other methods such as HVDC involving thousands of volts.
They are not simple, and can be dangerous.

You are using the easiest method devised.
