Now, to answer Gmetropulo's original question (or at least one of 
them)...

Citric acid may also be known as sour salt or citric salt. It is often 
to be found in spice shops. I also saw a bottle of it in the kosher 
section of my local Meijer's store (big grocery/department mega-store) 
in the ethnic foods aisle.

It's used in some baking, for a tart, lemony taste, as well as a  
preservative in canning acid foods, I think.

I got mine out of a bulk bin at the big spice store down at our 
regional farmer's market.
