Yep, that is what happens. Both leads seem to boil. Actually, if yours did 
what mine did and I imagine they did, a silvery mist came from the + and 
bubbles came from the - and the light stays on, getting brighter as the 
process went on.  The final product ended up as a silvery grayish haze.  It 
will settle out in about three to four weeks, depending on the amount of 
minerals in the water.

Now the question - is it safe.  I can't say, and I'm not sure anyone else can 
either, but, as I said, my family, the ones around my mother, have used that 
exact cs for a long time.  And I and my wife used it for well over a year 
until I learned about the particle size advantages of using distilled water 
and no salt.

Will I use it. That depends on where I am.  If I can get distilled water I'll 
get it. I prefer to use the cs with smaller particles and that means using 
distilled water and keeping the current flow low. But if I find myself out 
where distilled water isn't available and I want to drink water that I can 
feel safe drinking I have no question as to what will do.  And that is the 
spot missionaries find themselves in a lot of the time when they are in many 
of the countries.
