There are forests of it on the coast where I grew up. The otters love it, they tie themselves to it and snooze away, relatively safe from predators, who have a hard time swimming through it. One of my favorite soups as a child was seaweed soup. Not sure what kind of seaweed it was, though. I don't think it was kelp. Kathryn
