I think this is why I like the Silver Puppy because you don't have to do any of this. If you are a novice like me, you just set it initially to auto and reverse polarity, and then you don't have to do anything else at all! Beautiful clear EIS every time with almost no residue. My distilled water is so good that you can hardly see the little light in the top until the conductivity rises, then the little light gets brighter and brighter until it goes off, then its done. If you had inferior water, the light will be brighter to start with, as I can attest when I experimented with tap water!
