>From my experience with keeping fish, it isn`t always bacteria that kills
them, it is usually the build up of ammonia from feces, urine and rotting
excess food that does `em in. That`s why we have the bacterial filtration,
as it breaks down the ammonia into nitrates, and then into nitrites, which
are OK for fish. CS will kill off the bacterial filtration, so I`d suggest
keeping a sick fish in a small hospital tank with CS in it for a short time,
then returning it back to the main tank.
Or else you can keep CS in the main tank, and do a water change every day!
