Have not received the virus from the list, but I received the Trojan Badtrans
virus from an email exchange with Gil DiSanto offlist a few days ago when I was
signing him up for the GLN. The virus sends itself from a person whose address
you know (not like the hahaha Snowhite and 7 Dwarfs one which is from the
sender "Hahaha") . Because he had sent me his personal info, I opened the 2nd
email from him thinking it was safe (that's why it's a "buddylist" type virus-
it comes from someone you know- I then emailed him and he said McAfee had just
detected a virus). The virus is designed to duplicate a sender's message and
send it with the same subject line from the same sender, but with the
"humor.exe" attachment and a line saying something like have a look at the
attachment. If you try to open it, it will say "file is corrupt", but you've
downloaded the virus. After Joanne said she suspected a virus because her
emails were duplicating, I had my computer scanned by Trend Micro (online
service) and it said 3 files had the Trojan Badtrans virus. It rated it's
destruction as medium. (I take that to mean it's akin to having your house
wrapped by teenagers- it doens't wipe out your hard drive or anything, but
there is suspicion that someone somewhere can get your banking info from
it...if that's the case, they'll be sadly disappointed at what they find in my
acct.). After backing up important files, I then went to McAfee online, and
found instructions for removing this particular virus, did them, and then ran
another scan at Trend Micro and 1 file is still coming up infected, but it's
not operating because I removed it from "run" . Still working on it. If this
message duplicates itself, please let me know, and DON'T OPEN THE ATTACHMENTS
like I did. I know better. Did it anyway. Shame on me.

    Hi Mike,
The messages I have recieved did not have the attachments on them, thru
the LIST.
Think the list virus ware is working. :-)
     Bless you, Bob Lee

I've deleted them unopened, and don't remember who they were from. I
*think* Beverle's name may have been on one or both. I don't remember
      if Joanne was involved.

Has anyone received a message *FROM THE LIST* that contained a virus in
an attachment? Or anything *else* of that sort in the last few days?

      Thank you,
