The generator makes a very tight seal with the container. Not water
tight, but the dimensions are very close.  You might be able to sneak a
very small diameter hose through the spout of the beaker, but when using a
canning jar type configuration, it's a no go.
 I can, however , install a 'through tube' on request.

 I don't know how well it works.  Probably just fine, but I never tried it.
