Brooks and List, I have had very similar experiences repeatedly, going to great efforts to help persons who have serious illnesses, only to have many plausible suggestions based on scientific fact utterly ignored. It is indeed heartbreaking, but I suppose many persons on this list have had similar frustrations. I recently saw a youngish woman with a young daughter die of alleopathic breast cancer "treatment," and be refused of alternative medicine by her own family, who insisted she was merely wasting her time and money.
She is gone now. Fortunately, in this case, no one every asked my opinion, so I do not feel the well-known frustration of being ignored. In other cases, though . . . alas. I am convinced that one can not do anything in such cases. In an number of other situations, thankfully, persons have been quite receptive to my advice, and that has always made me very happy. However, I attribute the success to a happy and completely fortuitous correspondence of attitudes, interests, and open-mindedness that can never be brought about by one's own efforts. If you have tried, you have to let yourself off the hook and find some peace in knowing that the decisions of others are not your responsibility and that you can not be blamed. It hurts, I know, but I hope you can let go. Easier said than done; I know that too. JBB Brooks Bradley wrote: > > Dear Marshall, > Excellent observation.
