Sorry I never made that clear. It was not a joke nor a snake.
The idea is a garter you stretch around your leg, at the top of the boot.
No ants cross the garter.
Here is how I tested it.
I had a fire ant hill near my garden. While using the weed eater, I bumped
the post at the edge of the hill and saw many ants go up the post.
Immediately I knew this was the place to test the principle and the
repellant I had in mind.
Later I got all the ingredients together and mixed them in a bottle. I used
a cotton string soaked in the mixture, tied it around the post about 10
inches above the top of the hill.
When I shook the post lightly, ants ran up the post just like they did
previously . When they got to the string, they all turned around and went
back down.
This looks too simple. Use a cotton based garter, ( or absorbent material
) treat with the mixture, install properly on the legs and bingo, no more
ant bites.
I never did any more testing. I don't think it would work for spiders.
Many more factors determine if this is a feasible idea. Most relate to
time factors.
