Actually, I have tried "dirtier" water, I used the instructions
from CSPro for adding a solution of baking soda and distilled water to
bring the DW up to 5uS before making CS. Turned dark yellow after
sitting for 48 hours, though it was water clear at shut off.
    Diluting a batch of CS at shut off is something I have also tried,
didn't help, still turned yellow. I can try it again though.
