The only time I made a batch that went yellow in several years was when I tried Mike Monetts ultra low current setup at 14 microamps. The batch that ran for 20 hrs went yellow...another at 10 hours didn't.
It could be that under certain circumstances, a low current draw could set a pattern and ultra pure water wouldn't draw much current for a long time. The purest water I've found is .8 uS I use 4.5 uS Food Loin brand a lot with good results. You get the full 1 ma current draw at around 5 uS.
