Penetration is not the right term. Prions *are* a protien, that is a chain of amino acids, with some folding and cross linking. There is nothing to penetrate, but the chain could be altered. DMSO destroys the protien coating on some viruses, but is not known to destroy or alter all protiens. That said it's effect on prions is not tested to my knowledge. But I betcha someone somewhere is looking real close at it.
