Multiple Chemical Sensitivity. In some cases it is due to leaky gut caused by the Candida hyphae penetrating the gut wall and making it permeable to very large molecules. When these larger molecules enter the peritoneal cavity where they do not belong the body sees them as an intruder and mounts an immune response. Anything that enters your digestive tract can end up in your peritoneal cavity, including all kinds of chemicals. Food allergies are a common result, and apparently so is chemical allergy, although I don't think Candida is the only cause of MCS. A genetic component has been demonstrated in Irish, English and Native American populations.
