Sorry I just reread your post and realized your machine was running for 17 hours that is way too long. It takes approximately four to six hours using the colloid master. Not sure exactly is going on there. I also don't cover mine with a box. After brewing I put it in a closed cupboard. I think there are few others who use the same machine, maybe they have some other ideas for you these are just my own.
