Yep, I use aspertame as well, with good success on ants.  If they don't
carry it back, I mix it with apple juice and pour a little out for them
to drink. Works every time.  Have had success on everything from tiny
black ants that look like someone sprinkled pepper on the counter (had
to mix with apple juice for them), to huge carpenter ants.  Some people
have reported it works will with fire ants as well.
