How can this be arranged? When I first started running my own rbl, my grand idea was to request the blacklists from big rbls, then cull the list as I saw fit to reduce my collateral damage. I actually asked this of orbz, but got denied real quick. Since then, having thought about it, I realize that getting *then culling* such a list (not to mention multiple lists) and also keeping it updated would be a nightmare. In addition to whatever copyright issues there might be. So I see this for the folly that it was. And yet, how does Outblaze do it? Regardless, the "friendly" folks at orbz did tell me that there is another way: they suggested that I run rblsmtpd (another of djbware's products) in front of rbldns to whitelist their blacklist (an override of some kind). I have yet to investigate this one, but if anyone can shed light on a precise whitelisting-of-a-blacklist process then I'd appreciate it. I get the impression that Joe Jared, while disliked by an obvious group of individuals, is more or less reasonable. On his site he states "OsiruSoft's Database is freely available" but I'm not sure whether that only means I can do an rbl lookup for free. Think I'll write him...
