SIMS should only send one bounce message per unknown recipient for any
given message. Can you show us log excerpts that illustrate what's
happening?

You can, but it's generally not considered a good thing to do. You want to
bounce unkown recipients if possible. It lets legitimate senders know that
they've got a bad address (whether from a typo or other means). In the case
of address harvesting spammer scum, if you don't reject unknown addresses
they'll think that those addresses are valid, add them to their lists and
continue to spew spam at them.

It's been at least two years, probably more, since SIMS was last updated. I
think we can consider it EOL, not because of CGPro (a different market,
really), but because the platform it runs on (MacOS 8/9) is long since EOL.
It might be nice if Stalker would develop a similar light-weight free
SMTP/POP server for OS X, but why should they? There are far more open
source / free options under OS X than there ever were under classical MacOS
-- postfix, exim, courier etc. -- so developing a SIMS for OS X would be a
little like spitting into the wind.

That said, make sure that you're running the latest version of SIMS,
1.8b9d14. The version that's available on Stalker's web site is the last
_release_ version, 1.7, which has some significant relay holes in it. The
1.8 betas plugged all of the know holes from 1.7 and have proved themselves
to be pretty much bombproof. They're available via FTP from
ftp.stalker.com.
