Hi Lidya,
I like nature and I think without nature, we cannot survive. We did not take
care of what is given to us, soon, we will suffer for it. Good examples are
global warming, floods, diseases - the jungle fights back, and more. We no
longer know how to live with nature. We push the jungle back - by clearing
them - and what happened is that the animals come out .. and along with it
diseases.

Ah Meng and her relatives should be left where they are la. Not in the zoo
or in anyone's house. (^^)

Likewise, in Singapore, because we cut away many forests, we have similar
problems. The Mynas or Kaling as we call them in Hokkien in Singapore learn
to survive by eating from the food centre and dust bins. Same with our
monkeys. So, they grow fat and multiply. Imagine this, the crows in see in
Singapore? Long long ago, some wise guys brought them from India to Malaya
and Singapore, thinking that they could help with the pest problems. But it
was not to be. (^^) Likewise in Australia, they brought in the cane toad,
and now they have trouble with them.

In Thailand, one professor was working with the villagers not to poach the
hornbill or their eggs. What she did was to bring in the eco-tourists to see
the birds and in turn give them business in terms of lodging, food and
guiding. Not an easy project. (^^)

What a sad story about the fireflies. When was it when you saw many of them?
Anyway to bring them back? (^^)
