Hi!
Not sure if this is out of thread (OOT). I am interested to find out if
there are any keen birdwatchers in Singkawang and if anyone knows what wild
birds could be seen in Singkawang and in Kalimantan Barat. There is a
growing interests in nature and eco-tourism is a big potential business,
especially from professionals visiting S.E.Asia as well as specialised
tours. I know American Birdwatching tours often go to Sabah in Malaysia for
birdwatching. I am just curious to find out if there are such potentials in
Singkawang and the surrounding area.

If there is anyone who also photograph wild birds (not in cages), you could
post them in this email forum:

            http://groups.yahoo.com/group/birds-pix

which has about 2,700 members sharing pictures from all over the world.
There are some experts who could identify the birds and some who give advice
and tips on bird photography.

Just wondering if ecotourism could be one way to attract visitors to
Singkawang. (^^)

Cheers!
