When the UA registers, the registrar tells the UA how long the registration
will be valid. In general, it's up to the UA to re-register after that
period has
expired.

The registration event package adds a mechanism to explicitly notify the
UA when the address binding expires.

If the UA doesn't keep an expiration timer (or if the registrar invalidates
the binding prematurely), and if the UA doesn't implement the reg event
package, then you're gonna be in trouble. The binding will expire. The
UA won't refresh it. Inbound calls will fail to reach the UA.
