Hi Stephen, You are right you have said exactly what I meant.
In my view the proxy should be lenient and proxy should increase the Session Expires value equal to the Min-SE value (Min-SE value which ever greater at UA or Proxy). I think Poojan has mis-understood your question. Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks to me like you're asking what happens if the Session-Expires header in the INVITE is smaller than the Min-SE header in the INVITE, a slightly nonsensical situation but these do happen. Nothing to do with what is configured at the proxy, just how should the proxy (or UA in my case) respond in this situation. My guess is it would be up to the proxy to decide how lenient it wants to be. It could be kind and accept the request and use the Min-SE value or higher or it could be strict and reject the request with something like 400 "Bizarre Session-Expires/Min-SE combo". I don't have any supporting evidence for either though so I'd be interested to know if there is a hard and fast rule. This sentence means comparing session timer value received in request with Min-SE configured in Proxy. i.e Compare Session-Expires value 100 with Min-SE value configured at proxy which is 90. So the excerpt from 4028 doesn't hold correct for the above scenario. Please correct if my understanding is wrong.
