That solution, RouteJAWSToPC to find menu options, seems to work for some, but not for everyone. On my machine, which is an XP Pro laptop, if I land the JAWS cursor on the Change Status submenu, the menu opens, instantly closes itself, and causes a switch back to the PC cursor. Even after turning the JAWS cursor back on after that, I can only get to Change Status and Open Skype, but not Quit. I think this varies depending on screen resolution, and maybe other factors.
But the upshot is, there is no 100% reliable workaround for everyone. It sounds like people like the Alt+Shift+F4 idea anyway, so it may stick around past this first Skype 4.1 release.
