Not even if you do have cable in your street in all cases, it appears.

I do have Optus cable running down my street - both in front and behind my
house - and I still can't get it - they're "working on the switching in my
area".

As far as the "acceptable use" conditions, they wouldn't give me one
either - but apparently, once you sign up they are sent to you, and you
have the option of not continuing with the connection if you disagree with
them - withouty penalty, or so I was told. I'll be double checking that
when it's finally ready in my area, and the time comes to have it
installed.

So, I guess I'm stuck with the old dial up, for now. We'll see what their
conditions are when they arrive.
