I'm using a nifty bit of software called 'mon'. It does all knds of
monitoring, and it's easy to write new ones. It's in the Debian package
list as 'mon' and probably on freshmeat too.
My script pings the machine at the other end of the ISDN line, and if it
fails, dials mobiles. Actually, I'd like to modify this so it SMS's
instead, so if anyone can recommend something I could use to SMS people
via a modem only, that'd be great.
