Hi Gaurav,

I think FOSA is a separate topic that is better served in the FOSA mailing list. Lets not confuse the situation.

FOSA currently has the capacity to run under the existing rules of ROS, regardless of we have enough for a quorum based on our constitution. It may not be what we originally wanted but good enough.

I'm cross-posting this to the FOSA discussion list, in case anybody's on that list and not this one, as I think Tom and Michael have raised some very important questions about setting up an open source group in Singapore. You can follow this thread from the beginning at http://www.lugs.org.sg/pipermail/slugnet/2009-June/thread.html#20159.

4. NEW LUGS EXCO STRUCTURE: I just asked for a call to action on the FOSA exco and no one has expressed any interest in running it.

Oh, sorry about that; I don't have an account on Meetup and didn't want to get one just for one SLMG meeting - especially since I'd already indicated my interest in attending on Doodle.com. I was planning on running for one of the junior positions if there wasn't interest from anybody else, and if there was to just attend, ask questions and make up the quorum.

Does it look like we'll have a shortage of people at the FOSA AGM this month? If so, I could try and get a few friends to make up quorum, but I don't think I'll be able to find anyone interested in taking up positions.

And responding to Michael's earlier mail:
The intention is that the group uses it to get a single registered adress, PO Box or secretarial service, so that we can have an address for communications that is not tied to one particular committee member (allowing flexible transitions between new committees), which is one of the flaws I saw with LUGS in the past that has some room for improvement (it was usually half way into the term of a new committee until the address had been changed with ROS, ACRA, bank, etc... due to signatures and resolutions, etc), so that the secretarial load for handling of membership dues, etc can be shared between those who have the time available.
Is there anybody we could get to help "sponsor" us in that regard? I know LinuxNUS has their own room at NUS, which presumably they can receive mail at, and they've only had to move once since 2006. I think we might even be able to approach the colleges directly for a post box on campus.

Does FOSA have any plans for dealing with this problem?

cheers,
Gaurav
