Please kindly that take note that the weird issue that Dan has reported
below. There is a bug in simpleMonitor 1.5 in that when you set the
Regulartory Domain to TELEC, it went back to manufacturer defaults.
Please do not set to this setting. We have resolved this in
simpleMonitor 1.51.

Meanwhile, I haved asked Dan to send these units to us directly to have
these units investigated.

Subject: List of my Radio's

Well I have finally had time to go through the stack of Radio's in the
corner of my office. As you all know we have had some issues over the
last few months. I spent all day in my office on Friday going through
every radio one by one. There were 19 radio's stacked up in my office
that needed to be tested. I cut all of the 50' cables off of each ABO
unless it was already done so that they were easier to work with. I
recrimped every single radio with a new RJ-45 connector. I recrimped
several of them just to make sure it had a good crimp. These were all
test in my office to a new APPO. All of these radio's were tested and
defaulted with the same powershot, Coax cable, and Antenna.

Of the 19 radio's 2 of them turned out to be good from testing in my
office. I still need to test them out in the field though. They may
have been swapped out with frustration of other issues that we have
been fighting or maybe they were freezing up. I will know more about
the 2 good radio's after I get to put them out in the real world.

So that left me with 17 bad units. They all turned out to have 1 of 4
problems. The 4 issues that I found were the following....

Bad Ethernet (6)
Over Heating (4)
Dead Radio (3)
Wierd Issues (4)

I will break out what I found from these issues. I will describe the
ABO's as either Old or New Style. The old style will be the ones with
the 50' cabel attached. The new style will be the new ones that just
came out with the pig tail like the Totals.

Bad Ethernet......(6)
These are all on the old style ABO's. The ethernet will just not come
up. I recrimped several time, but still couldn't get an ethernet
connection. The power shot will still default the radio's, but still
no etherent connection. The wireless link still comes up and I can
access the radio with Simple Monitor. I even tried defaulting the
radio with Simple Monitor, but the ethernet still wont work.

Over Heating........(4)
These are all on the new style ABO's. The radio works just fine when
first installed, but as soon as the radio warms up it will not
associate to the AP. The etherent seems to be fine most of the time,
but one of them did seem to have a weird ethernet issue also. If you
let them cool off then they will work fine. Sometimes it will only
run for 5 minutes before the link drops. For testing in my office I
just layed the ABO flat on my desk and set the box that the unit comes
in on top of the radio. Within an hour the radio has dropped its link
and will not come back up even if I reboot it. I bought ten of these
new style radios and now have 5 good ones in service, but had to swap
out 4 of them because of this over heating issue. I still have one on
the shelf and I hope it is good.

Dead Radio's.......(3)
These are all the old style ABO's. Not alot I can say about these 3
radio's. They are just dead. Ethernet won't come up. The wireless
link will not come up. One of the units will power up, but will not
do anything. I have tried to default it also, but still wont do
anything. The other two will not even power up so there isn't much I
can do. I have tried several new connectors just to make sure wiring
is good, but still wont power up.

Wierd Issues.......(4)
Three of the radio's are the old style ABO's and one is a Total. All
four of these radio's kept freezing up and were all connected to the
same AP. We were trying to rule out interference so we got this
bright idea to change the Regulatory Domain to TELEC so that we can
have 14 channels. We were going to just see if our RSSI and JITTER
would come up or not. I made the changes in all four radios with
Simple Monitor from my office. Then I jumped into the AP and changed
it also. None of the radio's would come up. Then we had to make
truck roles. When we got on site we couldn't get into the radio's
with Simple Monitor. The MAC and IP have defaulted in all 4 radios.
None of them will default back to SB defaults either. Here is what
the Radio's show now.

MAC 0000222222FE
IP 10.170.254.41
NAME DEMO

I can ping all 4 radios to their new IP's, but Simple Monitor will not
work so I can't get them to SB defaults. The wireless link will not
come up either. There are 5 radios that are connected to that same AP
and we have since changed out these 4 radios with new ones. The 4 new
radio's have been rock solid since, but the 5th one that didn't get
swapped out is still freezing up. The reason we didn't change the
Domain in the 5th radio was becasue it was a Friday and they were
closed and it had froze up so I couldn't get into it. The only thing
I can figure out on this wierd issue was (Friday the 13th).

Well that is what I have come up with in my testing. I will attatch a
TXT file that has each radio broke out with what they are doing along
with their MAC's. I am also copying SB support so they can track the
MAC's to see where the issues are coming from. I don't have dates of
when I got them, but we got all of them from EC in Denver.

Are some of these issues what others are seeing in their radio's? We
sitll have a few radio's that are frezzing up, but can't seem to
figure out what the issues are.

I am sending this to the list just in case someone knows someting else
that I can try on these units.

Thanks........Dan
