An easy way to do it both ways... You can use something like MS Streets and Maps.. select the area(s) your in.. save that map as a image file (or web page), then make a new Visio diagram.  Take that image and set it as the background... then on the top layer place ant's here and there..
 
The same if the topo program supports it..  I use Maptech..

I am looking for some way to find out my expected coverage range from my tower. I have found several programs that do niffy things with topo maps.  I have topo maps, but I am looking for something that can take the lines in my map and display it in 3D?  OR, what about taking it and showing what is lower/higher than where I am at?
