Barry, the flash is still hot and there for still running SLOWER than the firmware EXPECTS it to be. sB has modified the timeouts in the new firmware to compensate for this slower response time from the flash. By waiting 15-30 minutes, it gives the flash time to cool off enough so that it's timing returns to normal parameters. So, yes, it's a hardware issue in the fact that the flash runs slower when it gets to hot as compared to the previous flash, however, it's a firmware BUG that's causing the lockup issue.
