I had high (or at least medium) hopes for the SpeedStream routers. At $12 each I could go buy 30 of them and be set for client routers for a while. Unfortunately they didn't work.
I have one customer on an SMC using it for on-demand dialup. Once it's set up correctly and you don't touch it, it works great. It's only in recent firmware versions of it that have the automatic failover to dialup. Those are the ones where they removed the on/off switch, and you have to put the paperclip on two of the pins on the serial port to reset the device to factory default. (that was a bad move on their part..)
