I just wrote a separate email to Speakman for the same question. I will ask our Support team for more details on this. As far as I know, the old firmware should not have any issues with the new hardware.

Nish,

If that is so ("The new firmware is not required on the new hardware") then why do I have dis-association problems with new units and old firmware???

John,

The new firmware is not required on the new hardware. All the units shipped after around July 10 do not have  the thermal issue (with or without the new firmware).

We were testing the new firmware and only this week it has been released into manufacturing for all devices. Within a couple of days it will show up on our web site as a general release also.

By the way every one wants to know this. Yes it is ok to apply the new firmware on ALL units, old and new.

I am the Sales Manager from the UK smartBridges distributor.

Our last sB shipment of outdoor products all had had the labels tampered with (peeled back exactly as you describe).  sB assure us that this has been done by them or their agents (a consequence of the recent chip problem) and does not affect the warranty.  The units are all new and not recon.  They should have had new labels but I guess time and demand got the better of them.

One thing I would check though, and this has just been brought to my attention by a WISP, is that the units have the latest firmware.  Despite the recent chip problems it seems sB have shipped all units with the old firmware and are leaving it up to "us" to upgrade if the units display the problems outlined in the Customer Advisory.  Don't assume that they will be working A-OK.

Okay this is the 2nd time I have ordered equipment and appears 3 ABO's that I received yesterday one has the corners of the sticker pulled up and its obvious it was tampered with?? Is this a used unit that was bad and sent in for repair and shipped back out to me again! I looked at the stock I got from the previous week and low and behold I found yet another one that it appears the whole sticker was off and its all bubbled up and corner is undone like it was lifted off as well..

I hope these work because I need them BAD!

Can someone from Ecomm and Smartbridges get together to find out what the heck is going on over there I don't want to be out in the field looking like an idiot again with used units with problems..

Thanks

Martin
