That is precisely what it is designed for. It should be mounted outside
the building, at the point of entry. As it is required by the NEC - 801
and NEC - 802 It has large grounding lugs to divert the lightning
discharge. You will take 2 wires through the hole in the wall - RJ45 for
data and RJ11 for power.

Even though the name is PoE Outdoor, it has the additional functionality
of Lightning protection to meet the building code.

Looks good but how will you make this work for lightening protection??
The
lightening protector has to be outside at the point of entry??
Am I missing something here? when was the last time you saw a power plug
next
to where you mount your radio? I am sure the customer will not go for an

electrical extension cord going up to the roof? nor will I be running a
whole
electrical conduit run with J box for an outlet that would not be
feasible
monetarily nor time wise??
There for it is going to be INEFECTIVE I sure as heck don't want
lightening
should it strike to run down the line in the house burning everything on
its
way BUT HEY the POE stopped if from going into the rest of the house
should it
happen to have survived the ensuing fire that started from the
insulation,
drywall and wood burning where the cable ran through the wall.

Once again maybe I am just not seeing how this thing works? is there a
diagram
or something other then the PDF doc that just tells about it?
