Finally shesh, I know its weird last 3
days or so I only had like 1 call to the office about equipment the rest was
cause I accidentally forgot to turn my dhcp server back on after a power outage
when we switched to generator and a email problem with my old mail server.. but
besides that nada weird

assocaition (unable to reach gateway ip address on the ap) = reboot it's a
simple command in the units firmware shesh lol come on sb :) As for tom
answering all the questions these days .. what can I say hes DA MAN! But hes
never on MSN HINT HINT lol As for the master switches I have a few of them
cause we had some problems on our axxelera products with units freezing and
well it worked great.. until the link from that repeater back to the office
went down and we realized SH*T we cant get to it to reboot the port! Ok this
hasn't happened in 2 months but still if its not automated its not worth it
isnt perfect) now for the nexus I hope the unreachable gateway after 30 secs or
60 secs will be able to reboot the unit (watchdogs is what my atm's call it lol)

if it's SNMP controlled power reboot on the unit, what happens when
the unit locks up like they are
currently doing? Put a simple watchdog
timer on the radio. A simple
555 IC will do. Have the "system" reset the
timer every couple of min. If
the timer misses two reset's, the timer cuts
power to the radio, and then
reapplies power..

researching remote power
rebooters. I MUST have them!
Let me
tell you what I would LOVE to have:
An all-inclusive unit that contains
4-8 outlets (preferably powered by
one power cord). Before I go

on with MY needs. I would LOVE to have a power
control unit that has the ability
to assign a PING address to each
outlet. The power control
unit would PING the associated IP at
specified intervals. When the
unit becomes unresponsive, it reboots.
Simple as that. Some of these
RPC (remote power controllers) are
close...but don't quite cut
it. On top of this AUTO reboot ability
(with PING), I want both LAN (web)
interface and dial-in interface (in
case the LAN side was down).
I don't think I am asking for too
much...considering all of these
products have the ability...just not all
in one box. I don't think?!??
So...I
just keep trudging through the jungle we call the Internet. Here

check out the APC smartUPS line. You can put a IP interface on them
and
controll each outlet individualy as
well as add enviornmental onitoring
to
it. ~$600 will give you
enviornmental monitoring, web based management
and
monitoring, 4 ports and fair amount
of reserve power and you can
schedule
events as well as respond to
internal and external triggers.

looks like a neat device, never seen anything like that. It might
help
out until we can figure out why the
APPOs keep losing their Ethernet
port.
But I would have to have one on
each APPO, so that's 4 of them at $275
each,
just to be able to reboot equipment
that won't stay up. I do appreciate
the
information, though, I am sure it
will be very useful and might be a
temporary way of controlling these
things.
