As for who is responsible for holding the IP, it is the client PC. It holds
the IP address, and it asks for a new one when the lease is up. The Airbridge
doesn't have anything to do with any of this.

Sorry, I haven't really been following this thread, but here is some input:


Most DHCP servers have a way to keep track of what leases have handed out, even through reboots etc. Example: ISC's DHCP server keeps leases stored in a file "dhcp.leases" [typically] which keeps info on current leases assigned by the server.

I believe the DHCP protocol also states that the server is supposed to attemp to make sure that an address is not already in use (arp? icmp ping?, i forget) before giving out an address.
